What Actually Matters
The Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission and BZA are all dark until Sept 1 — so the Route 7 form is the fastest way to be heard this month.
The one civic deadline: the county wants comments on a
fourth eastbound lane on Route 7 — the stretch the Ashburn commute funnels through. Comments in by Aug 11 make the Board's packet; later ones still get read, just after the decision-makers have theirs.

Golden to Mars, where it stands: the SCC
closed the case July 20. It's under appeal to the Supreme Court of Virginia — the School Board, the county, two homeowner groups and two residents all filed — and no argument docket is published for either remaining 2026 session. No meeting left to show up to; this one moves in Richmond now.

Setting the record straight
In the Jul 22 edition
We said: That the next milestone on the Golden-to-Mars power line was a joint public meeting on July 29. We wrote it flat, as settled fact.
What’s right: That meeting does not appear in the county's meeting archive or the School Board's, and we can't find that it happened. What did happen is that the State Corporation Commission closed the case on July 20, nine days earlier, denying Loudoun County's motion to suspend — which took the wind out of the meeting's stated purpose. The case (PUR-2025-00056) is now under appeal, with notices filed by the School Board, the county, two homeowner groups and two residents between July 17 and 28. The week after we ran it, we quietly softened the line instead of correcting it. Quietly is the wrong way to do that.
