Editor's Pick
Movie Night at One Loudoun: Zootopia under the stars. Grab chairs and a blanket for a free outdoor screening at One Loudoun Park, with free popcorn from Alamo Drafthouse. Walkable, works for toddlers through tweens, costs nothing. Best move: dinner at the district first, then walk over.
Thu, Jul 30 · 8–10 p.m. · One Loudoun Park, 20387 Exchange St, Ashburn · Free
This Weekend
Our best bets. The rest of the slate's down in Extra Credit.
Best overall: the 7th Annual
Peach Daze Fuzztival at Bluemont Vineyard turns peak peach season into a full weekend — food and drink specials throughout, with Dan Chute playing the patio Saturday afternoon.
Sat–Sun, Aug 1–2 · Bluemont Vineyard, 18755 Foggy Bottom Rd, Bluemont · ~35 min from Ashburn
The other peach party: Peach Fuzztival at Great Country Farms is the same weekend, half a mile down the same road, and a completely different event — pie-eating and pit-spitting contests, family bingo Sunday. Heads up: the orchards are
closed to u-pick this year after a late freeze, so peaches are market-purchase only. Ticketed, so buy ahead.
Sat–Sun, Aug 1–2 · Great Country Farms, 18780 Foggy Bottom Rd, Bluemont · $14 adult / $12 child online
The big music night: Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit close out July at
Wolf Trap, with Patty Griffin opening — Americana's best songwriter in a Filene Center setting that earns the drive.
Thu, Jul 30 · 8 p.m., gates 6:30 · Filene Center, Wolf Trap, Vienna
Date night: a candlelit string-quartet
Vivaldi's Four Seasons at Franklin Park Arts Center. The Adele tribute earlier the same evening is already sold out, so this is the one still open — and no tickets are sold at the door.
Sat, Aug 1 · 8:30 p.m. · Franklin Park Arts Center, Purcellville · $37–78
The home team: Loudoun United FC hosts Hartford Athletic at
Segra Field — closest pro sports to Ashburn, and this one doubles as the club's Kick Childhood Cancer night.
Sat, Aug 1 · 7 p.m. · Segra Field, Leesburg
Easiest Friday out: Summer Strings brings Jason Masi for free acoustic music at
One Loudoun Park — a different act than July's Levi Stephens set, same dinner-and-a-show combo.
Fri, Jul 31 · 6–9 p.m. · One Loudoun Park, 20387 Exchange St, Ashburn · Free
Novelty night: Michael Winslow, the sound-effects guy from Police Academy, brings his live show to
Solace Brewing. Genuinely weird, genuinely fun.
Fri, Jul 31 · 7:30–9 p.m. · Solace Brewing, 42615 Trade West Dr, Sterling
Fresh booking: Andy Frasco & the U.N. play
Tally Ho Theater — high-energy road-dog rock, the kind of show that runs long.
Sat, Aug 1 · Doors 7 p.m. · Tally Ho Theater, 19 W Market St, Leesburg
Family
If your student is new to LCPS this fall, the phone rule is the one to know.
The phone rule, for anyone new to it: LCPS
Policy 8655 bans personal-device use bell to bell, aligning with new state law. It's been in force since January, so returning families already know the drill — but if you're new to the county or sending a first middle-schooler, it carries into the new year unchanged.
In force since Jan 5, 2026 · First day of school Mon, Aug 17
Rainy-day-proof: LEGO Creators at Ashburn Library — free, drop-in, no registration, and an easy hour with a caregiver along. Note the branch closes at 5 that day.

Give back before school starts: Mobile Hope's

What Actually Matters
The power-line fight moves to the state's highest court, and there's a free walk-up job fair today.
The power line, where it stands: at a July 13 special meeting the School Board moved unanimously to challenge the state's Route 3A decision for the Golden to Mars transmission line — the SCC issued its final order June 29, and appeals go straight to the Virginia Supreme Court. The board also adopted a policy, again unanimously, banning future power lines on school property. The county tracks routes, case numbers and what's next on its
transmission lines page. A joint meeting with the Board of Supervisors has been reported for tonight, though no official notice or venue has been posted — check the county calendar before you head out.
Reported for Wed, Jul 29, 6 p.m. · venue not posted
Walk up and hire — today: the county's
Job Fair brings 20+ employers under one roof, with entry staggered across three one-hour slots and free paratransit available. Registration isn't required but does secure your slot.
Wed, Jul 29 · 10 a.m.–1 p.m. · Ashburn Rec & Community Center, 21105 Coopers Hawk Dr · Free
Worth knowing — the data-center squeeze: a 2022 county report found power constraints affecting roughly two-thirds of Loudoun's substations, with data-center growth outrunning Dominion's transmission buildout. Four years on it's still the backdrop to every power-line fight in the county, Golden to Mars included — treat the two-thirds figure as the last number the county put on paper, not a current reading.
