The Fourth lands on a Saturday this year, so you get the full weekend: the region's biggest fireworks in Leesburg, a hometown show over Ashburn's own lake the next night, a 5K that ends with a beer, and a quieter week-ahead of free concerts once the smoke clears. Here's the plan.

The one to build around

Leesburg's Independence Day, all day Sat 7/4. The morning parade rolls through historic downtown at 10am (King Street closes at 9:30, reopens around noon). Then it resets at Ida Lee Park: gates 6pm, Go Go Gadjet on stage at 6:30, and the area's largest fireworks at 9:30. Food court on site. Leave the cooler and the dog home — no pets, alcohol, glass, or personal fireworks (sparklers included). Rain date is Sun 7/5 at 9:30.

Fourth of July, the rest of the ways
Sun 7/5 — Ashburn Village's fireworks over the lake. The hometown option: music from the Dave Mininberg Band at 6:30, fireworks at sundown over Ashburn Lake (Lakes Amphitheater, 44078 Cheltenham Circle), with a daytime parade and pool party 10am–3pm. Parking is the catch — the Lakes lot closes at 3:30 and there's no public parking, so walk in and stake out a spot early.
Sat 7/4 — Fireworks in the Valley at Bluemont Vineyard. Mountaintop fireworks with a wine in hand if the town crowds aren't your thing. It's a haul west, so make an afternoon of it.
Sat 7/4 — Red, White 'n Brew 5K at Lost Rhino (Ashburn). A flat, festive morning run that ends back at the brewery. Walkable from a lot of Ashburn front doors.
Sat 7/4 — Nationals vs. Pirates + fireworks. A classic Fourth downtown; it kicks off a long homestand (Astros and Yankees follow) if you want to bank a few games.
Eat, drink & catch live music
Fri 7/3 — Summer Strings on the One Loudoun plaza, 6–9pm, free. Rotating acoustic acts (Richard Walton kicks off July); golden-hour patio dinner, then settle in on the green.
Sat 7/4 — July 4th at Solace Brewing (Sterling/Ashburn). An easy daytime stop before the evening shows; family- and dog-friendly.
Fri–Sun — Live music weekends at Vanish Farmwoods Brewery (Leesburg). Wide-open lawn, food on site, kids and dogs welcome — the low-key alternative to a packed festival.
Near Ashburn — Wolf Trap: Harry Connick Jr. (Fri 7/3) and Lizzo with the National Symphony Orchestra (Tue 7/7). Both move fast — grab seats before you go.
Kid pick

Rocknoceros, Mon 7/6 at 11am, free. The kids'-music staple plays the One Loudoun plaza Monday mornings through Aug 31 — stroller-friendly and over before the midday heat. (More free family concerts start next week — see Family, below.)

Markets

EatLoco at Ashbrook (Ashburn, Sat 9am–1pm) and Brambleton (Sun 9am–1pm, with a Kids Corner) both run year-round, rain or shine. Easy holiday-weekend stock-up close to home.

The Pulse

Have a say in two Ashburn intersections. The county holds a design public hearing on new traffic signals at Waxpool Rd/Ashburn Rd and S. Sterling Blvd/Glenn Dr on Mon 7/13, 6–7:30pm, in the Broad Run HS cafeteria (21670 Ashburn Rd). If you sit through either light daily, this is the room where the fix gets shaped — show up or send comments.

Quick hits

The housing market kept climbing in May. Loudoun home sales and prices rose again year over year; if you're watching the Ashburn market, the DAAR monthly stats are the straight numbers.
Pace yourself this summer: the free LoCo Ale Trail passport gets you stamps at 30+ county breweries toward prizes — fun for a designated-driver Saturday, no purchase required to sign up.
Opening Radar. One Loudoun's new phase has signage up for Tatte Bakery, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, Bartaco, and Arhaus — all "coming soon," none with a firm date yet (directory here); we'll flag the day one's set. Over in Brambleton, a Southeast Asian spot, Southeast Impression, is on the way.
Civic, holiday edition: the Board of Supervisors shifted its meetings to Jul 2–3 around the holiday, and the Brambleton board meets Tue 7/7.
Out & About

For the non-parent crowd: a NoVA Live Music Mingle (Thu 7/2) for a low-key night out, and Lost Rhino's run club and Tuesday BYO-vinyl nights are an easy standing plan. The LoCo Ale Trail (above) doubles as a summer-long group project.

Family

Once the fireworks are over, the Lemonade Stand LIVE free kids' concerts begin: Groovy Nate at Moorefield Station Community Park (Thu 7/9) and Mr. Rob & Band at Bles Park in Ashburn (Thu 7/16), both 10:30am. Register ahead for a free bucket hat and bring your own cup for free lemonade. Brambleton's free LIVE summer concert series opens Thu 7/9 with So Fetch — heads up, this first one's on The Green at Brambleton Town Center (not The Barn); gates 6, band 7–9, food trucks and Honor Brewing on site.

Registration Radar (fall sign-ups are open now)

Loudoun Soccer fall rec is open now — grades K–12, roughly $188–$210; the season kicks off with the Fall Festival in late August.
Loudoun Youth Volleyball (grades 3–12) — no cuts at most levels (the Black division tries out), Ashburn-area sites, late-August start; early-bird pricing runs through July 10.
Looking ahead

Worth putting on the calendar now: Asia in a Bite at One Loudoun (Sat–Sun 7/18–19, free, 40 food vendors), Polo in the Park at Morven Park on Saturday nights through August, and Loudoun United vs. Tampa Bay at Segra Field on Sat 7/18 — budget-friendly pro soccer close to home.
