Father's Day weekend, and the calendar's full: ribs in the mountains, polo under the lights, and the One Loudoun carnival on its very last laps. Here's the plan, in about five minutes.

This Weekend's Pick

Treat Dad to Ribs & Rosé at Bluemont Vineyard (Sat–Sun). The mountaintop tasting rooms handle the grilling — BBQ ribs, rosé, live music, and the kind of Blue Ridge view that makes a phone camera look competent. It's the easiest "I planned something" you'll pull off all year. Sat 6/20 & Sun 6/21 · Bluemont (~45 min west) · reserve ahead.

Not a winery family? Polo in the Park is back at Morven Park Saturday night — real arena polo, two matches, and plenty of room to spread a blanket and picnic. Sat 6/20 · Leesburg · gates 6 p.m., first match 7 · bring a blanket.

Tonight (Thu 6/18)Food Truck Thursday at Brambleton's Legacy Park, if dinner's still an open question.

New & Notable: Another Broken Egg Cafe opens Monday 6/22 at Bram Quarter (Loudoun County Pkwy & Evergreen Mills). Brand-new, so we can't vouch for it yet — but worth knowing it's there. Brunch hours: 7 a.m.–2 p.m. weekdays, until 3 on weekends.

Family Fun

Sun 6/21Sunday Art in the Park at Reston Town Square Park, 7 p.m. A mellow way to close the weekend.
Bank these for the week: the Ashburn Library Summer Reading shows (Mondays, 7 p.m., free) and Rocknoceros on the One Loudoun Plaza (Mondays, free). Kid-tested, parent-approved.
Heads-up: all county libraries are closed Fri 6/19 for Juneteenth — summer reading's still rolling, just not in person that day.

Sports & Rec
Sat–Sun 6/20–21Volleyball camp with Olympic gold medalist Pat Powers in Sterling, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. both days. Advanced skills for the serious young player.

The Pulse — what changed this week

Data Center Watch #2: your power bill is in the mix. Here's the part of the data-center boom that lands on your kitchen table — regulators just approved a Dominion rate increase of about $11 a month, pushing the typical residential bill to roughly $165. They also created a data-center-only rate class (for users pulling 25 megawatts or more) starting Jan 2027, meant to shift more of the grid's cost onto the centers rather than households. The backdrop: Loudoun now has 199 data centers, with 117 more in the pipeline. Next week (6/25): the county's comment window and what's actually on the table.

Last chance to weigh in: the county's Old Ox & Rock Hill Road pedestrian-path study closes its online comment window Friday 6/19. If you walk or bike that corridor, this is your moment.
Commuters: overnight work on Algonkian Parkway (at Hardwood Forest/Noble Terrace) runs through Fri 6/19 — expect off-peak detours.
Deadline: nominations for the county's FAIME inclusive-employment awards are due Fri 6/19.

Opening Radar
Another Broken Egg Cafe — Bram Quarter, Ashburn — opens Mon 6/22.

The Game

W&OD #002 — Words & Omitted Details

Every blank is an anagram of the others — the same four letters, reordered. 4 words · 4 letters each.

They headed _ _ _ _ down the W&OD to grab a _ _ _ _ on the lawn, then went to _ _ _ _ the kids' appetites with _ _ _ _ from the food trucks.

The Interchange #002

Two words cross at one shared middle letter. Solve both clues, then name the letter they share. Across: what the W&OD used to be before it was a path (rail-to-____). Down: what a Loudoun vineyard turns into wine.
